Methodology
Our methods for tracking disrupted AHRQ grants
We aggregate data from as many sources as possible. These include government-wide datasets, including multiple datasets hosted at USASpending.gov, as well as agency-specific datasets where available. We cross-check these datasets with each other and with crowdsourced first-hand reports of grant terminations, freezes, reinstatements, and other events. We also verify and validate our datasets with primary source documents, including Notices of Award that Principal Investigators or affected institutions send to us. Finally, we scrape data from court filings, whistleblower reports, and news articles. To the greatest extent possible, we list each piece of evidence that supports our classification of any specific grant.
